How to measure your wig size
Measuring your head size is an important task to endeavor prior to order one. In brief, you should confirm 5 measurement to get your capsize .
-
Circumference
Use a fabric measuring tape, holding the tape at your front hairline.
Follow hairline circumference to base of hairline at nape. Continue around head, back up to front staring point.
-
Front to nape
Measure from the hairline at the front, backwards over the top of the head and down to the root of the hair at the back of the neck (just above the depression where the skull meets the neck).
-
Ear to ear across forehead
Start at the crease where the ear joins the head, bring the tape measure at an angle to the hairline on the forehead and then back down to the same position on the other ear.
-
Ear to ear over the top
Start at the crease where your ear meets your head. Take your tape measure straight up from the top of your head and go straight down to the same position on your other ear.
-
Temple to temple around the back
Measure from your temple (the corner of your hair behind your eyes), around the back of your head and back to the temple on the other side.
-
Neck width
Place the tape on the lowest point of the bone behind the ear (not on the crease behind the ear) and measure across the neck to the same bone on the opposite side.
Everything you need to know about your measurements.
Wig sizes can be roughly divided into three categories:
Standard / average: 54 cm to 57 cm (21.25 to 22.5 inches) - about 90% of customers are sized for this, which is the normal wig size, so you will find more options if you are in this size range.
Petite: These wigs are available in sizes between 51cm and 54cm (20 and 21.25 inches).
Large: larger than 57 cm (22.5 to 24 inches).
With each full cap wig there is an adjustment feature inside the cap (Velcro or soft snap size tab) that enables you to stretch or shorten it by 1 inch in circumference to ensure maximum comfort.
The fit of the wig to your head is very important. A good, comfortable fit is essential, especially if you are wearing the wig for a long period of time.
Conversely, you may risk falling out of your wig and others are more likely to discover the secrets you are trying to hide. Even though the shop where you bought your wig supports free returns for eligible customers, you better be well prepared before you buy to reduce the hassle afterwards.
Once you do get a wig that doesn't fit, or once you find a size you like (located on the size label inside most wig caps), make sure you write it down as it will be an important reference for your next wig order.
When you have purchased the perfect wig, all you have to do is follow the video or written tutorial and wear the wig. To make it easier, you can search for articles directly on Hairtis, which always cares about your life and offers you free knowledge on all aspects of hair systems.
