Hair loss, people feel scared when they hear this word. Some people do experience hair loss, but others may be conditioned to be very worried about their tendency to go bald whenever their hair falls out.
In fact, hair fall is divided into physiological and abnormal. We should be concerned about the latter.
Two types of hair fall
Hair does not grow endlessly, but undergoes three phases in the hair cycle: telogen, anagen and catagen. The telogen phase is 2-6 years, the anagen phase is 2-3 weeks and the catagen phase is approximately 3 months.
If you are losing more than 100 hairs a day, it is time to pay more attention to your hair: there is a high probability that you are losing your hair now.
There are many reasons for this phenomenon, and in the case of male pattern baldness, a large part of it is due to genetics, which is often referred to as male pattern baldness.
In addition, irregular work and rest, scalp irritation, and other reasons can cause this result. However, if you rely on counting whether you shed more than 100 hairs a day, it seems a bit tricky.
Now, we will introduce a few ways to effectively determine if you have hair shedding.
Symptoms of baldness
-
You have a receding hairline
By international standards, male hair loss can be classified into seven grades.
It is a classic early sign of male pattern balding. Your hair might begin to thin at the temples, creating a more prominent widow’s peak and a hairline that resembles the letter M or a horseshoe. Or your hairline might seem to recede or thin all the way across.
Grade I: Normal hairline (the borderline of the hair).
Grade II: receding hairline with a slightly elevated forehead.
Grade III: Significant hairline loss.
Grade IV: Significant baldness on the forehead and overall thinning of the crown area, but the hair is not completely lost and some fine, soft hair is present.
Grade V: Hair loss in the forehead and crown area, with a broken band in the middle and a large area of hair loss.
Grade VI: Basic loss of hair in the forehead area, with a more pronounced tendency for the crown area to expand backwards.
Grade VII: This is the most severe of the hair loss grades, with only a ring of hair around the back of the head and ear temples remaining.
You can determine if you are currently suffering from hair loss and to what extent by comparing the different conditions above.

Hair pull test
The hair pull test, also known as the Sabouraud test, is often used to test the degree of attachment of the hair shaft and can reflect the activity and severity of hair loss disorders.
Without washing the hair for 5 days prior to the test, a bundle of 50-100 hairs is pinched at the root of the patient's forehead or temporal region using the thumb and forefinger with moderate force and then pulled slowly outwards along the longitudinal axis of the hair towards the ends.
Repeat 6 to 8 times in different areas and then count the number of hairs pulled out.
Under normal circumstances, a total of 2 to 5 resting loose hairs will be pulled out.
If more than 10% of the hairs pulled out, i.e. 6 or more hairs, the test is positive and indicates active hair loss.

Your hair becomes thin and soft
Although hair loss is a normal occurrence, new hair will grow back after all. But if your hair is falling out in a soft, fine state, it may be a cause for concern.
This is because fine hair may be a warning that you are on the verge of hair loss. When the hair follicle's own cells gradually degenerate and eventually close up, the hair becomes thin and eventually falls out. Its is especially true for the hair located at the top of the head. Over time, this becomes what we often call baldness.
Therefore, you should watch your hair fall out.
Although the criterion for hair loss is whether the number of hairs lost exceeds one hundred per day, this measurement is cumbersome and even less accurate. Therefore, the above three methods are more worthy of a twisted attempt.
The causes of hair loss include not only genetics but also external stimuli and so on. Although most men are born with hair loss, they also need to adopt some good habits to prevent further stimulation of hair loss.
If you find that you are really suffering from hair loss using the above three methods, we hope that you will further search our blog for the causes of hair loss to further improve the problem.
